Germund Dahlquist - Founder of NADA

Germund Dahlquist worked as professor in Numerical Analysis at KTH (Royal Institute of Technology) and SU (Stockholm University) in 1963-1990, and as a guest professor att Stanford University in 1982-1986. He was one of the true Swedish pioneers in Computer Science.

Germund Dahlquist was a portal figure of Numerical Analysis and the founder of the department that grew to this school.

Several efforts are made to keep the spirit of Germund Dahlquist alive. The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, SIAM, gives a Dahlquist Prize every other year since 1995. Comsol, a company started by former students of Germund Dahlquist, sponsors a Dahlquist postdoctoral fellowship at KTH.
