The 2012 COMSOL Conference CD Available to Order
Now into its seventh edition, this CD is a rich resource of papers,
presentations, posters, and animations published by engineers and
researchers from the worldwide 2011 COMSOL Conferences.
This disc presents the use of multiphysics simulations in
investigating, designing and optimizing all types of technical
devices and processes.

Complimentary Module Shipped with COMSOL Multiphysics
Existing license holders of COMSOL Multiphysics received the Particle
Tracing Module free of charge when they upgraded to Version 4.2a.
This module extends the functionality of COMSOL Multiphysics by
computing the trajectory of particles in a fluid or electromagnetic
field and includes particle-field interactions. View a free, previously
recorded webinar that describes the module and its features here:

Sponsor Spotlights: Those that helped make it happen
The COMSOL Conference was a huge success partly due to its sponsors,
which included software vendors, certified consultants, and technical
magazines. Two of our gold sponsors, SpaceClaim® Corporation
and AltaSim Technologies, are profiled below.
SpaceClaim Corporation
SpaceClaim leads the 3D Direct Modeling market by delivering
break-through tools that dramatically improve direct design and
engineering processes. The company’s goal is to lead the market for
direct modeling software, expanding the use of 3D in conceptual design,
CAE and model preparation, industrial design, and manufacturing. At the
conference, they ran a minicourse that introduced participants to CAD
engineering and design. This course demonstrated how to integrate
SpaceClaim’s technology with COMSOL using the LiveLink for SpaceClaim.
Find out more about SpaceClaim on their website.
AltaSim Technologies
AltaSim Technologies has over a century of collective experience in the
development and application of Multiphysics simulation. By combining
their expertise in COMSOL Multiphysics and their ability to extend its
functionality with in-depth knowledge of physics, mechanics,
computational science and real world processes, they have helped clients
realize the value of computational analysis to improving their products
and processes. Both Jeff Crompton and Kyle Koppenhoefer – Principals at
AltaSim Technologies – presented papers at the conference.

CERN Purchases Multi-user License
CERN, the world’s leading laboratory for particle physics, has purchased
a multi-user license for COMSOL Multiphysics and a number of its add-on
modules. Through this licensing agreement, COMSOL is now available
CERN-wide for engineers and researchers. Pierre Baehler, Manager of
CERN’s CAD/CAE Support Team, notes that “the use of COMSOL
products started in 2007 when one user purchased an individual license.
He was very successful with it, his colleagues got interested in it and
not long thereafter a few more licenses were acquired.”

New Tutorial Package Added to the RF Module
A number of new tutorials have been included in the RF Module’s Model
Library. This includes models of a radome, cavity filter, biconical
antenna and pulse propagating down a coaxial transmission line. For
license holders, these and other models can be accessed and
downloaded from the Model Library Update, under the View menu.

Upcoming Webinars
Webinars offer a great way to learn about new technologies and tools.
For the upcoming month we are covering several interesting topics:
Intensive Training Courses
This course provides an intensive introduction to COMSOL Multiphysics. We start at
an introductory level, then lead you through topics needed in all analyses
and then into advanced topics using lecture, worked examples and workshop problems.
For all courses, visit our training course page
P.S. Feel free to suggest topics to be covered in this e-newsletter. Mail to: info@comsol.com
