Boston: Keynote Speaker from ZINK Imaging to Talk about “The Library of Babel”

Located not far away from our Burlington, MA office is the ZINK Imaging Image Science Laboratory. The manager of that lab is a brilliant COMSOL Multiphysics user, Dr. William Vetterling. With over 60 published scientific articles and books, and 30 U.S. patents, Dr. Vetterling truly understands numerical modeling. At the COMSOL Conference in Boston he is going to speak about “The Library of Babel” — and you are not going to want to miss his presentation.

COMSOL Multiphysics and “The Library of Babel”

If you’ve never heard of “The Library of Babel” before, you may be wondering what on Earth that is. In short, this is a fictional short-story authored by Jorge Luis Borges in the 1940’s, about an extraordinary library thought to have existed in the ancient city of Babel. Now that we all know what it is, you may be asking a relevant question: “What does this have to do with COMSOL Multiphysics?” According to keynote speaker Dr. William Vetterling, there is a subtle connection between this short-story and COMSOL Multiphysics. Intrigued by this notion? Attend his presentation at our conference in Boston next month to find out what the connection is.

ZINK Imaging

ZINK in the context of the company does not refer to the metal; it stands for “Zero Ink”. ZINK Imaging is the inventor of a fundamentally disruptive printing technology (the first in 30 years!) which allows for full-color printing without requiring ink cartridges or ribbons. How? All of the color is embedded in the paper itself. This break-through printing technology is supported by over 180 granted and pending patents. ZINK Imaging’s Image Science Laboratory is located in Bedford, MA.
